Oh, yeah, random incident from today.

Oh, yeah, random incident from today. "You know what Bondo is? How do you know what Bondo is?" Genuine surprise, curiosity, and subtle chauvinism. "I used to fix my own car." And lo, I did know what its right uses were and did rightly perceive them. For a girl may use 3M products, even unto fillers and epoxies and it will be a blessing unto them that know her. So let it be written, so let it be done. Also, thbbbppptttt!

My hours sans travel time - yesterday, 7:00 - 23:00; today, 7:00 - 18:00; tomorrow's shapin' up to be a real peach, too.
I may have neglected to mention I'm probably just a wee bit edgy at the moment.

GAAUUGHHHH!

GAAUUGHHHH! I hate passive aggressive crap. Go manipulate somebody else.

I wanted to post pretty things to share with you, but first the wifis let me down, and then I got bad news.

I wanted to post pretty things to share with you, but first the wifis let me down, and then I got bad news. Now I am just sad.

1.

1. Trapped in all day seminar at work with NO INTERNET (sorry, frustrated, can't even sit there and get work accomplished).* 2. The plumbing is (surprise) not really fixed and/or rebroken and the landlord is out of the country for unfortunate reasons and neither the landlord nor I can reach the people who are supposed to be managing the property. 3. Am finally supposed to have a weekend off and it's going to freaking rain. Sod this. *Have pointed thoughts on why you have to give people at least a certain amount of time to present and guidance how on how to present; it's over-warm in there; the lunch was a long wait and not very good; schadenfreude on a couple of peeps you might guess and just don't care that it makes me not a nice person. #amycanmakeyounotstupid   #sodthis

Tonight's supper: poached chicken in cherry cognac sauce with veggies over wild rice. Yes, I finally cooked something.

How not to start the morning: finding a break in from last night.

How not to start the morning: finding a break in from last night. I feel badly for the employee most directly responsible for that area, just because they are stressed out about it. Have to wonder, though. Someone would have to have known exactly where to look and for what. They'd also have to get into a secure coded access building, with multiple coded and locked doors between them and their objective. Have to wonder about that.
Being useless, x in a series.

I hate waiting.

I hate waiting. #princessbride #nocontext
Meanwhile, at least I had a proper breakfast. Even if it was a little carb heavy.

Does anyone have any info on this?

Does anyone have any info on this? It says there's something in budget legislation for homeland security where they'd charge Canadians a fee to come to the US? If that's true, then I'd have to say it sounds like a really poorly thought out idea. Originally shared by Allison Cutler If you have to pay to cross the US/CANADA border Would it change your mind about visiting the US?   Would that shopping deal or filling up your gas tank with less expensive gasoline look a little less attractive if you needed to pay a toll (potentially both ways) just to get there?   For me, I would probably not go over the border as much as I do now - which would in turn save me a lot of money because really I just go there to shop ;-)   What's your opinion on the potential toll? http://www.660news.com/2013/04/21/will-canadians-have-to-pay-a-fee-to-enter-the-u-s/

Kenneth Cavness sent us his weather - thanks, Kenn! (no, really, it was supposed to continue to be gray, cold, and rainy like it was the first half of today and several days before.)
I continue to be surprised at the amount of coverage of US events on media, here.
Most disgusting grand rounds ever competitor this am. Squicky.

Things which taste good: Bob's mojito (from Bob Likes Thai Food, a Vancouver restaurant) Vodka, Thai basil, mint, lemongrass, lime juice, soda. It is very refreshing (likely works without the vodka, as well).
Oh, good, gas leak.

TIL this.

TIL this. Originally shared by Eric Lortie In 1917, following the Halifax Explosion, Boston sent a significant amount of aid our way. This strengthened an already powerful economic friendship into something even greater. The Halifax Explosion, for those who don't know, was a result of a shipping accident in Halifax involving a munition ship. It was the largest man-made explosion in the world until the first nuclear bomb. The city was devastated. It's tough for Nova Scotia to offer the same level of help to Boston in this era, things are so vastly different in many regards. But this is a great decision I solidly support..  Obviously, I didn't live through the Halifax Explosion, but for as long as I've been alive Nova Scotia has sent a Christmas tree to Boston as a way of saying thanks for their aid, and their help is something that was important to me. While I hate that the opportunity to reciprocate has presented itself, I'm glad my province stepped up to do it. htt...

Below cut because rambling about how I think someone did a good job of being bombarded and surrounded (pretty literally) by reporters. Also below cut because about Boston today and there's probably been enough of that but I'm just now catching up with some of the details. Also, I think I'm complimenting a surgeon and I wouldn't want to be held to that in the future. ... ... ... ... ... ... hope that's enough ... Reporters interviewing one of the (likely tired but won't admit it because he doesn't have time to be right now) trauma surgeons from Mass General. Questions from the reporters triggered responses from me ranging from "Stop trolling for sensationalistic gore; you're disgusting and insensitive." to "Ah, an insightful, intelligent, informed reporter (whose voice sounded a lot like Leonard Holt)." As for the surgeon's responses, wow, was he self-possessed and consistent in refusing to answer certain inappropriate and distaste...

Because it couldn't possibly get even better

Because it couldn't possibly get even better ... the Other did exactly what I expected and didn't show up in the OR Fri pm. Cue pissed off attending. Meanwhile, people tried to be generous and asked if she knew. I just looked at them like I'd lost my hearing, because, you know, technically I can deny bad form on my part. Cuz they're dumb (pizzahat) and didn't get what I wasn't saying (sarcasm). I wish I had it in writing it is not my job to cover this, but I do have it verbally from the director. Hence, exactly what I expected, and then some, ensued. See everybody's post-ops, except, oops, and do procedure, and get equipment back, oh and there's a few extra patients that got scheduled and didn't anybody tell you and you deal with it, etc. And I'm not on call, yet I was working this morning. I haven't had an actual weekend off in ... don't even know. Oh, right, pissed attending tries not to but I already know he, um, spills over onto the i...

Unreal.

Unreal. It happened again . Other person who is supposed to be doing the same job as me "could not be found". Wtf? You are assigned to persons A & B, variously given priority at different times on different days of the week, and if one is not there, you default to the other. Where is your pager? Where is your cell phone, over which you are constantly giggling with certain front desk staff? Where In Seven Hells Are You and Why am I being asked Yet Again to take care of someone critically ill on another service while taking care of everyone on the service to which I am actually assigned because of YOU?!! There is no curse in Elvish, Entish, or the tongues of men ...

I need a professional consultation from a professional about professional behavior and colleagues, stat.  Something, which I am pretty sure is NOT MY JOB, but I am confirming this formally, is angering me in large and significant ways, but I do not want to create more problems for myself in the process of standing up for myself. Capital crimes are, therefore, not an option.  So I need input.

Um ... I love my family. Really. Skip to the end if you're busy... 1.Sister calls panicked because Mom has used The Phrase. It's a thing our Mom does. 2.I'm not exactly sanguine about tomorrow morning's impending academic debacle, but I swear I'm trying. 3.So now, I'm making phone calls to make sure no one is dying (see The Phrase). 4.Upshot - not dying more than usual but waiting for test results and use of Phrase was unintentional. 5.Call Sister back and clarify unintentional Phrase use. So, yeah. I Am Totally Not Distracted Now At All. I suppose some context would help, although I haven't been making it all public and whatnot. My Dad probably has CLL and he isn't feeling well and this is not what I need to be focusing on right now, and, well, yeah. Maybe he doesn't.

focus, Focus, FOCUS

focus, Focus, FOCUS that is all

Jfc*, people.

Jfc*, people. If you're going to listen to your iPad/laptop/stupid phone/pocket game device/what the heck ever in public, use earbuds or something! Esp if you have to turn it up so much to hear it that I can freaking transcribe whatever you are hearing from some distance away. My preferred study haven is kind of suctioning today. #petpeeve #ihatepeople *amused that autocorrect wanted to put KFC instead of jfc. Oddly, that would still work if you sub in kyrie for jesus. Then, again, autocorrect wanted to sub Kylie for kyrie. Mindless autocorrect.

Ugh.

Ugh. Now I am being stared at by pair of creepy, weird guys. If I go home, I will curl up and not study at all, but this is freaking me out.
It's probably not good that my reactions have devolved into I don't know and I don't care?

I hate people. I wish they would all go away.

My motivation and my reserve are failing me.

My motivation and my reserve are failing me. Am very much in the I quit, I give up, I'm screwed mindframe, along with a smattering of lonely, isolated, desperate. There really ought to be drugs for this.
Does your doctor's office stop answering their phones at 3:00pm ??!

Lovely.

Lovely.  Now I have "So long and thanks for all the fish" running through my head (the quasi-musical number from the opening of the movie version of Hitchikers guide). La la la dolphins, la la la dolphins. Aaaaaagh!
