I am singularly incapable of focusing on anything today.

I am singularly incapable of focusing on anything today. Rats. I do not have time for this. I have to be super awesomely functional for another week and a half and then I can be normal functional for another week then I can ... when can I freaking collapse? Who wrote this schedule, anyway?

Excellent.

Excellent. We now have a problem that (superfluously) postulates "you and a stowaway are stranded on a lost planet". The stowaway is named Dr. Smith and he is complaining that he was given inferior equipment. ... Good grief. When do we get to the problem with Major Nelson and his telescope not working?

I suppose it would be wrong to drown my sorrows in a chocolate bunny.

I suppose it would be wrong to drown my sorrows in a chocolate bunny. Then again, not sure where to get a quality bunny at this point. Yes, it matters; just any old cheap bunny will not do.

How modern are the materials on this subject?

How modern are the materials on this subject? They are using the equivalent of a word problem in which Gilligan figures. Yes, the 3 hour tour 1970's Gilligan (I think it was the 70's?). Even more inspiring, these are the same people who have contributed the bulk of questions in this area for the actual test. Isn't it nice to know we're only 30 or so years out of date?

Just bit someone's head off with a look.

Just bit someone's head off with a look. Didn't mean to be mean, but random strangers saying, "That looks hard!" while casually observing the stupidest stupid ever to be tested, which is what I am studying, is irritating. Especially as what they were really doing is noticing something that looks like math with other weird stuff thrown in and trying to commiserate as a total stranger because Math is Hard. I wish this was something that followed slightly more logical rules; I wish it was more like straight-up math (I don't mean anything fanciful or crazy). I know, I know. If you don't want people, stay home, but if I did that, I'd just go to bed and stay there. For days.

Weird Austrian chocolate - Zaubernussen (there's an umlaut, I just don't know how to get it on the keyboard).

Weird Austrian chocolate - Zaubernussen (there's an umlaut, I just don't know how to get it on the keyboard). It's almond hazelnut brittle, but that translates to 'magic nuts'. I guess I'm missing a colloquialism? Other varieties of chocolate bar they make - Kirsch Blut. Kirsch, as in the really strong cherry flavored liquor, and blood, as in blood. I've had blood sausages and I've had blood soup, all of which I assumed were old ways of upping the nutrient content, as well as thickening, and using everything you had. That doesn't really hold up as a reason for putting blood in chocolate. No, just no.

Sun came out. In other news, still studying, still panicked, still in pain. In no particular order. Did manage to have proper breakfast, though.

I would like to not be in pain plz. K thx, bye.

So, yeah, that happened.

So, yeah, that happened. Finally realized it's the wife running the practice stereotype. Except it's not the wife. Also, so sick of passive aggressive behavior. You did something I didn't like, so I'm not doing any work, but I won't tell you because then when it gets really bad for all the other people, who are the ones who really suffer, I can blame it on you. Even be able to tell the boss how terrible you were. And this is where the stereotype comes in - because you can't complain to the boss about his wife because she's always right. Except, not his wife, just co-opted the effective role as indispensable controlling person. Also also, get over working out your issues with people you perceive as senior to you in life but why not get some kicks in now while they're junior enough you can get away with it. Because that's an attitude that'll build positive working relationships in the future. Plus, my back hurts.
Today has tremendous badness potential. Deep breaths, serenity. Getting a bagel for breakfast.

I wish I could record and share the horrible sounds one of the baristas* has been suddenly and inexplicably making. Disturbingly loud discordant sounds at random intervals. Perhaps she is studying the various calls of the endangered unaccountably loudly whooping crane. Perhaps she has been studying the real spectrum of manifestations of Tourette's. Perhaps she is studying a character role in a period comedy, a role whose defining trait is their extremely loud whooping laugh (if that's the term). She could put the siren in fire engine, she could be her own Whoop! button app. She's making the needle bounce into the red on the voice memo app (I felt compelled to check). Good grief. *ya, studying in Starbucks, sigh

About that on time arrival - hahahahahahaasahahaaaa - gasp - so humorous.

About that on time arrival - hahahahahahaasahahaaaa - gasp - so humorous. We left the ground somewhere after 7:30pm. Thus, arriving at the gate somewhere around past 10ish is exactly when you'd expect to arrive. But, no luggage lost (this should be a Tom Stoppard satire), and no line for a taxi mean I can head for bed very soon. #travel #goals

TIL in the past 100 years we have changed retinoblastoma from a uniformly fatal disease to an almost 100% survivable one (for certain values and in western countries). But Survivability of uveal melanoma has not changed at all. Bummer.

In other news, the universe and I are not one.  I am currently ensconced in so many ice packs that against all scientific evidence, my body temperature may, in fact, be lowering. They are effective for pain and swelling, though, and can be conveniently rotated to multiple positions.  Advil may not be the optimal thing, here, but I didn't have any tylenol, so advil it is.  Later, the aspercreme.  Very few places in this schema are wrappable, so not sure about the compression. #watercoolerincident

Things that irk me: writing q&a where something has five names (ok, three) and only using one, probably the least common. This is done knowing that even if the person taking the test really knows all the other critical info but not that fifth (ok, third) synonym, this may lead them to guess incorrectly among the answer choices, none of which appear to be correct. #irked
