Some things may have gotten better today, but I am not feeling better, just tiredstresshausted.

So at some earlier point this winter, there was a day when it was confirmed that it was warmer in Antarctica than in many places in the Great Lakes region on a given day.  It would seem that it is highly probable that it was warmer in Iqaluit than in similar locales yesterday/today.

So, today's update is that they think, maybe, giving my dad an injection in his spine will help. Assuming they can get him an appointment to get one. And nothing else horrible happens before then. And he will have to keep getting them. But if it works, maybe he will be able to walk again. Today's fun new development is that we need to be evaluated for the sudden loss of the use of one leg. We are waiting to get a call back about scheduling an MRI. You know, Saturday was pretty great up until around 4:30pm (for me - it deteriorated for my parents around 1 or 1:30). I'm kind of feeling like I don't even have the energy to use my limited vocabulary of vulgarities, which are completely inadequate, anyway.

So, in totally unrelated to the other stuff that's going on, From Russia with Love has a real belly dancing sequence that's pretty impressive for some good close-ups of abdominal moves, or is that good close-ups of some pretty impressive abdominal moves? Anyway, would like to think might be useful documentation of a particular form of that period of belly dancing, but I'm pretty sure it isn't Turkish, and neither is the dancer.

Let's see, what else can I share with you about today? Oh, yes, my SIL is one of those people who do nice considerate things that reflect a complete and total absence of clue. A lot like sending a really, really nice bottle of wine to an alcoholic (only not specifically that). Yes, she (and technically my brother) sent a package to my parents today. I know it's supposed to be the thought that counts, but which one? The one she had, or the one she didn't?

Things my mom says: It's that Schroeder in a box thing. Go on, guess.

Update: 1. Supportive care nurse and PA here at house today for over an hour. Officially referring to hospice. So another nurse from hospice will be at house tomorrow for however long. The support thing could be good, but the people in the house all the time is not. 2. Started methadone for pain control. Explanations available if you're interested. 3. Supposed to be getting social work and counseling as part of this process. For BOTH my dad and my mom. Dad did speak with PA and nurse some, and am sure he was able to let go of some things because he was exhausted after talking with them. This is good, more or less. My mother, otoh, is FINE, etc. So I really hope this is going to go in place for her, as well. Because see another post I might make sometime I'm not sure how much more of her being FINE we can take. 4. Which of you am I coming to visit and how soon? #fsckcancer   #helphelpimbeingdepressed

Just in case we were actually getting any sleep last night, one of the smoke alarms decided its battery needed changing. At 3am.

ION, for Valentine's Day, we have another family appointment with Hospice.

Well, g+ app has decided it hates me again. Now, when I sign in on anything other than a lap or desktop, it sends me to a page about Google Mobile Apps! And tries to get me to download apps - like g+! Because already having it is apparently not enough to allow me to sign into it. Best part is, if you click on their link to install it, it won't install from there. So I've deleted and reinstalled and deleted and downloaded and nothing works. If there were someplace to leave feedback that actually mattered to anyone or would change anything, I would do that. Because I am kind of sick of people pushing their product and then that product randomly decides not to work. And if none of you were on here, I would just get rid of it. Yes, my experience has repeatedly been that bad with the mobile versions of g+. >:(

It was some nasty form of minus double digits wind chill today. Helped by not making much of an effort to get out of the single positive digits by the non-wind air temperature. Needless to say, it was cold.

Well, it's nice to know that they are so concerned about patients and caregivers that they don't want both of the primary caregivers around to provide info to the medical personnel. Or, you know, somebody to assist the primary caregiver so they don't fall apart. I do not see what the major problem with having two people present is supposed to be.

Hello, again, emergency room. Do, please, infer from context that they sent us home the same night we were there. This time, we got to get an ambulance in a snowstorm. We were supposed to have an appointment with palliative care tomorrow morning. I am not ok. Like that's what matters.

Let's see: In addition to the other interesting things in the last week, the dishwasher broke (is now fixed), and I got to test whether or not the fuse in the MagSafe power adapter works (it does - I have a new one now).

Not that I didn't have a clue before, but I totally and completely understand how angry and frustrated people get as patients. Nobody wants to be the person in charge of coordinating, they expect the family or patient to run around to doctor's offices, or sit around and play phone tag, and their final answer for everything is go to the emergency room. They are all great about answering the phone or calling you back, and they will make suggestions over the phone, but they get to a certain point and then they don't want to be doing anything. Somebody else should be doing it. Except, who exactly is the somebody else? And then there's the whole person one said do this, person two said do that, we don't have it listed so it must not be true, etc. So angry making.

He is in so much pain he wants to die. My mother finally called and asked for a scrip for anxiety meds for herself, but due to some stupid law here, even if the doctor's office is open on Saturday, she can only pick it up M-F, which she must do in person b/c it's a CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, OMG ZOMBIES. (Apparently, they have rather expanded the list of what is controlled here in this neck of the woods.) While I suspect this has to do with the office's need to prove they have controlled and tracked EVERY SINGLE THING THEY'VE EVER WRITTEN, it totally sucks. Also, I could fucking care less about who's addicted to pain meds, right now, because it is interfering with people who need meds getting them.
