I thought of this a while back but never followed through. Then it popped back into my head with the unending midterms. So, here. Have a rough cut of my version of a famous patter song from "The Mikado".
I'm guessing Gilbert and Sullivan isn't a big thing among my readers so a quick explanation. This particular song is kind of always updated to continue the sharply pointed puns and prods that are written into the original. It keeps it on point for contemporary audiences. Ko-ko is the Lord High Executioner, thus his need for a list of potential scapegoats.
I've got some links so you can get the tune. The first link is a very contemporary ENO (English National Opera) version that's very funny but not done as a patter song so people can follow it better. It loses a little of the rhythm. The second link is to a much older but classic version where you get the rhythm and drive of the patter with the original words.
