I say that because I guarantee you that there were medical and science people involved in this decision. You don't make long term decisions based off short term recommendations, among other things (key point noted in the article).
Also, frankly, there is no question that there are people out there, including people in positions of influence, who think that anyone who is an addict is a lesser form of life and it's all about their own bad decisions and it's somehow their own fault and if they kill themselves by trying street drugs out of desperation, well, good. One less addict to burden the rest of society. As if the rest of us are so bloody perfect and marvelous.
