Other thoughts:

I do not know how other forms of criminal behavior are handled, since you don't need to be convicted for your employer to find your behavior unacceptable. If you want to treat this like an addiction that affected job performance, where someone can get treatment, maybe you let them keep their job. Would you let an employee who hit on all the other employees' little kids at the Christmas party because they were drunk stick around? Why is it ok if they do this to other adults? Lots of people get drunk, they don't all maul people, even though our society has clearly made this a top 10 acceptable excuse for predatory behavior.

I'm also beginning to think that maybe we need to treat every report of harassment as a criminal act. Iirc misdemeanor battery does not require intent to harm, just non-consensual intent to touch in a way that is harmful or offensive. Presumably that harm or offense is defined by the subject of the touching, not the one who touches. It's separate from specifically sexual battery, i.e. rape, and it's not a felony based on level of (objective) harm.

Poor baby's getting treatment, he's just a sloppy drunk is not consequences that will change anyone's behavior, nevermind the entire cultural attitude. I can hear the Bros now - Man, you can't even kiss anyone anymore or you get suspended! He's a great guy. It's not like he didn't do his job. You know they want you to kiss them, anyway. Otherwise, why are they drinking/at a party/drinking at a party?

Men who "aren't Weinstein" are like the Harry Potter Occamy - it expands or shrinks to fill the available space. These people are greater or lesser abusers depending on what they can get away with. Few people have the power and influence of a Weinstein. They know what they can get away with, whether it's just crude talk, or copping a feel, or undermining someone through rumor mongering or revenge porn - or battery, up to and including rape.

Maybe this is the first time someone's complained about this guy, or the first time it stuck, anyway, but harassment is like diabetes. It's been happening for years before it's diagnosed. It is rarely a genuine "first time". If people move around just enough, and no one ever hears about the last job, it can be the first time every time! And there are multiple examples of that out there already. It's like moving child abusing priests around. Funny how it didn't stop the abuse.

I don't think everyone should be lined up against the wall and shot. But this is a blinkered and tone deaf response, no matter how reasonable it sounds.
