Some useful info in comments about Houston Food Bank and various religious affiliated charities - Catholic, Jewish, Episcopalian, and others. A number of these groups don't proselytize while they are helping you, although as someone pointed out there are groups like the Salvation Army that may not discriminate while helping during a disaster, but have problematic standing policies.

I think it's unfortunate that this article needs to remind people about this, but it's true. Accountability, not exploitation, is critical.
