So when I caught that plague all y'all had, the first several days devolved into some fun moments of not exactly delirium, but ill and on cold medicine and, you know. There were a lot of random thoughts that just happened. In honor of my being 99% recovered, I thought I'd share what happened in my head when I got that loopy.
For catarrh and voice, if you've got one:
Hello mucus my old friend
I've come to choke on you again
Because a virus softly creeping
Invaded me while I was breathing
And the infection that it planted in my face
Has grown apace
Amid the sound of coughing
And as the viscous colloid filled
The empty the spaces in my head
I developed pharyngitis,
Sinusitis and rhinitis
And my throat was torn by a thousand shards of glass
Each time I gasped
And whispered between bouts of coughing

Magnificent! Do you have KJ in your circles, because he'd love that?
ReplyDeleteNice! Might need some work on the scansion, but I don't know the original well enough to give good advice.
ReplyDeleteThe scansion is odd in the original, too.
ReplyDeleteThe original is "The Sound of Silence" by Simon & Garfunkel, if you want to check it out.
