Saw a man about a cat.
Saw a man about a cat. The inventively named "Kedi" (means "cat" afaict) is actually kind of fun. If you like cats, or are into films for a very select audience. Really, it is a combo vanishing culture documentary/ unique perspective travel guide film. You go on a tour of many different neighborhoods, almost entirely from the cats' perspective.
Having been there, I can vouch for Istanbul having a LOT of cats. I did not realize they were such a part of the city's culture, but that sort of makes sense. It's a nifty look at people's perspectives on the cats, as well. I'm sure even in Istanbul, there are people who think some of these cat people are nuts. The soundtrack was fun, and it might even have been specifically chosen as additional commentary but that's where not speaking the language means you lose a little something.
Best paraphrase of a translated quote: Dogs think humans are god; cats know humans are just the middleman.
