+ Is it really a thing where people think you should give every new CEO, or burger flipper, or POTUS a chance to do whatever before you criticize and condemn them?
+ So explain the no longer and apparently never really secret just not reported on by the (supposedly liberal biased) media multiple meetings among Republicans that were straight up frak 'em, we are not only not giving him a chance, we are undermining the entire country if that's what it takes to make this guy look bad.
+ So we should give you and your guy a chance after you deliberately focused not just your but our resources on not giving the other guy a chance?

ReplyDeleteWell, yes, hypocrisy is a thing. In regards to that specifically, I was thinking more of the institutional attempts to soothe and gentle and make it all ok, or something. 'Cuz my instinctive response to hypocrisy is that no, it's not ok.
ReplyDeleteYou do realize that it's the tea party and freedom caucus, ie nominal republicans, who've been screwing over the governance of this country by planned and deliberate obstruction of Obama personally the last eight years and now it's both dems and repubs who are all give the republican president elect a chance?
ReplyDeleteIn that scenario, it's the republicans with the bloody shiv being all, oh don't do that to us just 'cuz we did it to you.
Maybe that's what you meant, but I am torn about the genuine need for civility and not skipping go and the $200 to get straight to the civil war. I am not at all sure that the media, and Obama, and others should be saying please try to be the adult, please try to behave the way you want everyone else to behave. Because at some point, I think that's just enabling.
Anyway, I'm not all let's just jump straight to the civil war. I do think civility has its place, all civility is not automatically hypocrisy, but I'm definitely not up for appeasement, either.
