Somebody else's post led me to this.

Somebody else's post led me to this. All I can say is that is scary, disturbing, and reminds me of so many ethnic and religious hatreds that are excused or fostered through violence and falsehood. (By which I mean that this report indicates this is so inflammatory that you can essentially say somebody had contact with beef and be allowed to kill them, even if there was no beef.) It's particularly concerning that the government may be tacitly/not so tacitly indulging in a religious/cultural war.

I realize I have no personal approximation for what believers in the sacred cattle feel. Perhaps it's akin to some of the anti-abortion believers who really think you are killing a fully formed person by terminating a pregnancy. However, it's generally not ok to kill someone else as a response to that, and it's not legal, at least for now.
