Ok, folks.
Ok, folks. They have said this for a while, now. Zika is sexually transmissable. They have said that many people do not become symptomatic. They have said that you should not have unprotected sex with someone who has been to an active area of Zika.
I know that people hear this as you only have to worry if you are pregnant or planning to get pregnant, BUT:
1) People get pregnant whether they want to, or not. Even on birth control. Surprise!
2) You can get sick from Zika, and some people have bad complications.
I don't know how you express this in a way that registers with people so that they take action. If you or your partner have been somewhere with active Zika cases Use A Condom. And I just know that because we live in a culture where sex is icky and you can't say those things on TV people will come to the wrong conclusions, ALL forms of sexual activity, ALL intimate contact with body fluids. This includes sex toys - CDC has this spelled out on their website. Ok?
And for the people who ask, here's the info on kissing (highly unlikely, but virus is in saliva). http://www.cnn.com/2016/06/21/health/zika-kissing-saliva/
Use a condom, people. I don't care how long you've been together, or how terrible it makes sex (if it's that bad, why are you having sex?). No sex is worth getting sick. Ok? Ok.

I have a friend who just moved to Florida and is six months pregnant. I don't know how she feels, but I'm terrified for her.
