Omg, my dad got my mom to (grudgingly) go to the immigrant development initiative place with the little shops and food stands and I got her to eat dim sum and bao! Dad got her to try one of the Laotian fried dessert thingies. She actually said she liked some of it!! Then she bought something from one of the ladies with a little shop (a shawl and a skirt). Amazing.
