I cannot believe what bikes cost.
I cannot believe what bikes cost. A used one that is checked out and mechanically verified is $200+! And you should see what a Schwinn costs. Yeesh. It used to be just a bike. Plus, there are the uber-privileged bikes, like the linky - built-in cup holders, leather seats and hand grips. Man, I'd be afraid to get dirt on it!

costco has a line of bikes - they are great. i have the mens mountain/street hybrid. i think it was like $250? basically lifetime warranty so yeah.
ReplyDeleteCostco is all over Southern Ontario, but we don't have one. OMG, CANADA. I'm such a boob. Thanks, Josh Schoof! I can go shop for a bike in Ontario, where they do have Costco, and it's like a huge currency discount right now, so even with the VAT, I might be able to get something for less! Of course, it's only up to $200 US value unless I spend 48 hours there. But still! Thanks for the brain spark!
ReplyDeleteIt all depends what you want. Mine added up to... Well, small-second-hand car money. About ten or so of the mass-produced ones. But you can get fairly decent bikes around here from around 300-500 (including fenders, luggage rack, and lighting, obvs).
