Is it possible to interpret the current flurry of Republican public speaking as a whif of desperation? I mean, they've dug up Christie Todd Whitman, Tom Delay, and Mitt Romney (of all people) is going to be giving a "surprise speech". Oo, I'm so excited, a surprise!

The CBC had a great analysis of this using all sorts of Civil War quotes and analogies, starting with "A house divided against itself cannot stand." Ah, the "... party of Lincoln ..." (Rubio, at least, has been stating that they are the "... party of Lincoln and Reagan ...").
