For today's postings, we will be offering links to classical Xmas music that is less familiar. If you notice a lot of it has literal liturgical use, well, the history of the Roman Catholic Church is pretty much inextricable from the history of Western Classical Music. So good for you and your powers of observation!

Many people are familiar with Handel's Messiah, Bach's Christmas Oratorio, Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker, and Beethoven's Night Symphony (credit by adoption from Die Hard). Less familiar are Francis Poulenc's "Quatre Motets pour le Temps de Noel". I think some of them are truly beautiful. Be warned, they have a huge dynamic range so start out barely audible then eventually get pretty loud.
