  1. I am pro-refugee, from any country. But I can't find anything in this bill (at least the two summaries I have read) to rail against. It seems largely symbolic. Symbolic is what Congress does best so I am not surprised.

    Yeah, and if that doesn't drastically reduce the number of refugees, nothing will short of ending the program entirely.  And this almost has (in the House) veto-proof support.

  4. Some of the rest isn't objectionable, but that one seems surface-reasonable until you remember the last time you dealt with three bureaucracies and tried to get an individual to take responsibility for anything. 

    This is basically Congress saying, "We won't be accountable for any single thing, here."
