Soooo tiiiiiiired. Ran around attempting to accomplish something today. Which led to the following discoveries:
1) Busch's - completely inconsistent, always under construction, and seriously? You have the display up for something that you can't sell because the farm it comes from only comes in every 2 weeks to make sure the machine works? WHY IS THE DISPLAY UP. Ugh. Waste of time.
2) IKEA - has weird ways in which it is consistent for years with some things while being totally random about changing other things.
- Does not ensure compatibility between Canada and US inventory. o.O P.S. Does not between Europe and North America, either, but, really? Not within NA?
- Narrowly escaped without eating all the cinnamon rolls. Only bought one hazelnut chocolate bar, instead. Do not go hungry.
- Did serendipitously find something useful in addition to the tiny thing had planned to buy.
3) REI - constantly changing their inventory, not always for the better. That last phrase is a quote, from a long time employee. It is totally true. So if you find something you like, buy a lot of it, because you will never see it again.
- Bought new pair of light hikers, same brand/style, one size smaller. Since the rest of me is moving in the opposite direction, and feet go the way the body goes, one can only conclude that Merrell's manufacturing standards leave something to be desired.
4) Not one of the numerous fancy, schmancy markets between and including Ann Arbor and Livonia carries Valrhona couverture. This is like 5-10 different snooty suppliers, people. Zingerman's was the only place that even immediately knew what I was talking about, but their chocolate buyer "sets her own hours" so although they took my number and will have her call me back, that could be ....... yeah. I wish I needed the amounts that you have to buy to buy this stuff online.
5) Bought bagels and had yummy toasted bagel with herby cream cheese for bfast. Have more of both so that will be bfast for the next several days.
6) Am probably going to drink enough coffee to motivate myself to get dinner from this place: http://www.pilarstamales.com/

There's a chance they may be authentic, which is why I am considering acquiring them. The place that makes its own telera bread and torta ahogada and pambazo is an alternative, but I feel like heavy, saucy sandwiches are for another day.
