Not that I didn't have a clue before, but I totally and completely understand how angry and frustrated people get as patients. Nobody wants to be the person in charge of coordinating, they expect the family or patient to run around to doctor's offices, or sit around and play phone tag, and their final answer for everything is go to the emergency room.
They are all great about answering the phone or calling you back, and they will make suggestions over the phone, but they get to a certain point and then they don't want to be doing anything. Somebody else should be doing it. Except, who exactly is the somebody else? And then there's the whole person one said do this, person two said do that, we don't have it listed so it must not be true, etc.
So angry making.

Oh lord. I'm so sorry. I have a friend who works as a hospice nurse and I wish I could send you her.
ReplyDeleteThanks. It's just disappointing to see how badly the system can function at times, and nobody means for it to be bad, but it just happens. That, and my mom is having such a hard time. I really feel badly for both her and my dad.
