Today was a wild ride. Took dad to oral surgeon. Dad freaking out on way there and uncharacteristically bit my head off. 2 hours later, he didn't take the tooth out. Dad not happy because expects they are referring him to only guy in town who does "high risk" who is at the terrible county medical center. Dad uncharacteristically bit my head off on way home.

Characteristically, my mom refused to go do her usual Friday am thing so she was here no matter when we returned, and interrogated me and my dad upon arrival home. Upon her suggesting she should ask my dad something again, I suggested giving him a cooling off period. She oddly appeared to comply.

Prescriptions from oncologist that were supposed to go in Thursday pm still not at pharmacy, so called oncology office (10:30am ish).

Dad gets unexpected call from oral surgeon. He will take the tooth out on Tuesday morning! He felt he needed to have some specific extra prep just in case because of how much dad has deteriorated in past 2 weeks. Dad feels much better about this and no one says that if someone had fucking done something 6 weeks ago like they should have and he tried to get them to, he would not have been in this deteriorated condition. That's not really on this particular surgeon, per se, because he's the one that finally said he'd see my dad, but still.

Get call from cancer center with appt time for Monday. It is, of course, not in the morning as promised.

I tell my mom that she has to take my dad to the Tuesday surgery appt because I have to be somewhere at 9 am that day.

Somewhere in here mom tries to tell me why I am not going to the oncologist on Monday. HA HA fuck you, no. I finally tell her, "I am going" and leave the room, ending the scintillating non-conversation.

Pharmacy has rx from oral surgeon from this am, but still not from oncologist. I call again and end up talking to answering service because office closes at 3pm on Fridays. Oncologist calls back himself and says he sent the rx in an hour ago, also takes time to talk with me and ask about dad.

Pharmacy eventually has rx in their computer system - 3 or more hours after it was sent from doctor's computer system. Conclusion: fucking electronic prescription software non-standardization is ridiculous this many years after legislating required electronic prescribing.

Hoping the new meds will help my dad, who is in terrible shape. We are supposed to be able to go pick them up shortly.

  1. Well, there were some glimmers of good things in there, at least? //grasping at silver-lined straws//

  2. I mean, yeah. Eventually several better things happened, but not before the DRAMA.
