So I left the house and went to a special screening here of Only Yesterday. No spoilers. It's long, boring, preachy, and visually gorgeous. It's also got an interesting soundtrack, esp if you are at all cognizant of European folk music. It also gets trite and cheesy at times, esp with the Japanese version of a big American movie theme song hit as the closing music. However, there are sections that work really well as story telling, but I'd have to spoil to say which. If you are into anime and manga, it is worth seeing, but be prepared for some deadly slow sections. And it is visually just beautiful.
