Know what I loved about this meme? All the people pointing out everything wrong with it* [in the comments]. There's hope for humanity, yet.
* This has to be Lake Ontario to picture Toronto from that angle and that close. And because Toronto is on the north shore of Lake Ontario and nowhere near the Niagara River, which enters Lake Ontario at Youngstown, NY/Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON. There are, like, forts there, and everything from the War of 1812.
* The Niagara River is not frozen over. Also, when it does freeze, you get huge uneven blocks of ice, like crevasses on a glacier, which are incredibly dangerous to cross. People try. See next point.
* As pointed out by a commenter, without specific permission (unlikely), it is an illegal border crossing.
* Lake Ontario didn't even freeze over last year, when you actually could have walked across Lake Erie.

Global warming? Man walks across the frozen Niagara River from Buffalo to Toronto.
The US coast guard picked up some idiot in the middle of Lake St. Clair trying to walk to Toronto from here the other day. He's now hospitalized for hypothermia while they decide on charges
ReplyDeleteThat's a hell of a long walk. Also, wrong lake, lol.
ReplyDeleteWell, Toronto was his final destination anyway.
ReplyDeleteI am torn between feeling sorry for his suffering, and being amused by all the horrible things I could say.
