Dear Amy Young

Dear Amy Young ,
Hi - dumb question. Did your original formula eons ago for the hand cream include the diazolydynyl urea and its friends? I don't remember and was skimming the ingredients list while in the act of ordering on Etsy. Please and thank you.

  1. The original one used methylparaben and propylparaben as preservatives, but a lot of folks are anti-parabens these days, so I went on a quest for an effective non-paraben preservation system. What I ended up with was Germall Plus.

  2. (All of the other non-paraben systems I found either destabilize emulsions, are ineffective against fungi, or are weirdly pH sensitive.)

  3. Why anti-paraben? Just wonderin'.

  4. They believe it causes breast cancer. I do not find the evidence to be remotely compelling, but my customer base wants what it wants.

  5. So, did the diazolydynyl urea et al talk you out of ordering?

  6. No. I got distracted by a god-awful car maintenance bill. I was totally going to take gross advantage of Bandit's misfortune.

  7. The coupon is good for a few more hours! But I get the "surprise bill" thing.

  8. Eventually I will either have some money, or there will be another coupon code, or both. Then I will buy the multiple lemongrass n clary sage lotions, along with some lip balms and possibly some shampoo. I have ambition!
