I am amazed at how much I could understand without running translation software, but I don't think I would have the vocabulary at hand to say any of it without research.
French, in high school, plus some Spanish at my first "real" job. Throw in some German from a character I played about 14 years ago and my vocabulary is a giant mish-mosh train wreck. The worst is when I try to conjugate German and all I can think of is French verbs.
I sympathize. I took Spanish first, then French, then Spanish again in college, followed by Arabic. If I wasn't thinking I'd answer French questions in Spanish, to the irritation of my French teacher.
Inspired by a different thread - Farfelkugel, the multilayered horse name joke in "Robin Hood, Men in Tights". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLtk_VfbKzU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLtk_VfbKzU
