Storm fatigue has definitely set in across the area. People are still under travel bans and stuck in a number of areas, they have had at least one house fire where they couldn't find the fire hydrants nevermind dig them out, and now there is freezing rain. It's unoriginal, but I may retag this event as #snowpocalypse , or possibly #precipigeddon , as the flooding is inevitable.

In other news, they eventually closed even more of the NYS Thruway (past Rochester to PA), but afaik, it is all now reopened and the poor stranded truck drivers can get food, fuel, and paid (they aren't paid if they aren't driving to the best of my knowledge). #snowpocalypse

They had ice-breakers on the Niagara River. To try to prevent flooding. From the ice-jams. It flooded anyway. But the Power Authority is apparently still generating power, so they must have Procedures for this eventuality. I suspect a lot of Ontario and New York (State) would notice if they had a problem. #snowpocalypse

The wind blew so hard, it knocked the storm window partly out of the frame on one of my parents' bedroom windows. They have snow in their bedroom. In other news, my sister's furnace broke. She woke up smelling gas and feeling cold this morning. Fortunately, both the gas company and the furnace people came quickly. Not that the weather in Michigan isn't balmy. #snowpocalypse #IvegotmyIonyou

Wow. The New York State Thruway (I-90) is being closed from east of Buffalo to the Pennsylvania border. #snowpocalypse   #IvegotmyIonyou
