SIL posted OUR ADDRESS on INSTAGRAM with NAMES and told people to send things for my brother to our house!!!

My mother is now apparently angry enough to say something to my brother and SIL but ... they aren’t answering their phones or texts ...

    In Europe, you would have a legal right to have such entries removed. Not sure how that is in the States, but at least that means Instagram has the routines for doing so.

    Yes. I’ve told my mother and sister that it is doxxing and that I intend to report the posts for removal. It’s unfortunate that my brother married someone who is apparently mentally ill, but that by no means means we are obligated to countenance any of the behaviors.

    Magnus Itland not to sidetrack, but GDPR doesn’t have any legal teeth in the US. A company can decide to abide by it worldwide - my previous company did. However, if the company then violates a non-European persons right to be forgotten preferences, there’s nothing the person can legally do unless there’s a local law about it.

    That being said, there’s precedent for instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc for taking down these types of doxxing/invasion of privacy requests worldwide.
