ReplyDeleteRight or wrong, there are still a bunch of people who want to know what the many has to say about everything happening with this administration, so I get wanting to put in one press conference rather than going through a million interviews. I don't disagree with what you are saying, but putting out a statement one time and having people find it if they want isn't all that obtrusive to me.
ReplyDeleteIt’s not just if you find it. He announced and advertised he was doing it, when and where. Deliberately made sure he wasn’t likely to directly conflict with the Dem rebuttal but was right after it.
ReplyDeleteIt’s not even like I object to what he’d say/said. It’s that he is keeping his die hard supporters deluded into thinking a) he can get the nomination in 2020, never mind win; and b) he’d be a successfully transformative potus if he did. For that to happen he’d have to be just as much a proto totalitarian as Trump, just a left leaning one. The GOP is not going to roll over for Sanders.
If he wants to make a difference, get his supporters to support change while accepting negotiation and compromise. And get off their butts and vote for people who may represent incremental change but who can win. Don’t just stay home and stamp your feet if you can’t make everyone Representative Ocasio-Cortez.
I'm fine with him keeping his base riled up for a few more months while all the various candidates do their ground work, but I would be far happier having him do some kind of formal hand off, well before any actual primary, to someone who could actually win than to try and split the vote again.
ReplyDeleteHe had a very powerful role in losing the presidency for Clinton. He had die hard followers and did the minimum lip service after he lost. I very much blame him for not using the power he had to keep them current president out of office.
