Well, I've herded the cats as close to an actual plan for Thanksgiving as we are going to get. Unique in the annals of this family my brother and SIL committed to dates a month ahead and have stuck to them. My sister, otoh, is all this date, no that date, no this date, here's all the reasons why not, why are you so meeeean? So she'll be here, but not sure when, not sure where she's staying.

My mother and sister agreed to minimal cooking. Yay! I have now forced my mother to commit to an actual plan of buying and cooking on specific 2-3 day ranges. Most food will be bought prepared and just heated or prepped. I have agreed to make lactose free evaporated milk so my dad can eat pumpkin pie made with his mom's recipe, which uses evaporated milk. I have also agreed to make her crust which uses shortening. My mom will make the actual pies.

I have allowed that if there is time my mother may make a jello mold, as this seems to be important to her. This assumes there's room in the refrigerator which is one of those annoying side by side things that she wanted so she's got it and it sucks for anything like having space for food for the holidays.

Stuffing, veggies, salad, turkey, fixin's will all come basically done from a store and we will have minimal cooking involved. Mostly just reheating. Leftovers will be minimized.

Yes, I know. No plan survives contact with the enemy. But I have also demanded the paper plates and plastic ware - I will not be cleaning that up, either.
