There's some question as to whether "pink tax" is a meaningful phrase here. Taxes are levied by the government. If government required women to take a more expensive transportation, that would be a pink tax.

That's a good question. I don't remember seeing any, but it's been a while since I was there.
ReplyDeleteYeah, there were definitely multiple occasions where I felt obliged to blow a large wad of cash on a cab rather than risk the subway by myself.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I suppose if there were women-only coupes in American subways, we would have seen legislation about how to keep trans people out.
