I have a pretty clear idea of my mother's working definition of "cooperation", now. Basically, I micromanage and control/run things until I need something from you or it's too inconvenient/stressful for me, then I dump stuff in your lap and walk away.

That sounds about right.
ReplyDeleteNot to downplay her pathologies at all, but I’d bet that’s what a good third of the world means when they say it. If you add in the folks that mean “you do all the things that need doing in order for me to do what I want without having to think about dependencies, consequences, or other such minutiae”, we probably get to well over half of everyone.
