Headline: Pennsylvania Republican candidate threatens to stomp on opponent's face
I know Trump and his mouth are your (the group you/your) role model for success, now, but you really need to think about who you are and what you are doing if you choose to be this person. Understand that any ordinary person who did this should be subject to legal attention, for good reason. Understand that one of the root values of American republicanism is that we don't do this.
As much fun as it might be to bring up Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton, we are well past the era of duels for personal honor and even at the time it was not universally well looked upon. Unlike many other governments through the years, we are not in the habit of brutalizing, killing, or imprisoning our opponents or those with whom we disagree or compete.
Unlike the Senate, where it is now ok to be personally grossly inappropriate in a job interview, this type of behavior should in and of itself be disqualifying. Anyone who cannot remain appropriate, never mind civil, in a tense and competitive situation should not be put into a job where every minute of every day may be intense.
The measure of someone's readiness for a position of high responsibility should be more than just excellent paper qualifications (I'll stipulate to those). Otherwise, there are some serial killers and violent abusers out there who are fully qualified to any number of jobs. No hyperbole, some sociopaths are extremely intelligent and capable.
A political system based literally on last man standing cannot govern. It can only devolve into violence and chaos. Apologies aren't enough. Every time this happens, the person who loses control like this should immediately step aside, whatever your official political label. Leaders who approach every problem as a fist fight are not leaders.
