Local GOP must have whiplash. They certainly don't sound happy about this. Then again, Collins has a gerrymandered district that prior to this he was unlikely to lose. He's still probably going to win the district.
I wonder if the way this works is that if he gets convicted of something it wouldn't be for a year or two and meanwhile he can continue his support of Trump, et al. Not to mention if he gets booted do we have to have another election or does the GOP get to appoint another GOPer? Not to mention does being a sitting Congresscritter give him some kind of legal or financial leg up that his lawyers thought he should hang on to?
