Which becomes a he said, he said, doesn't it? And that's a joke at present. I will be very surprised if there are Watergate tapes of Trump incriminating himself. Also? We're all pretty clear by now that there's no such thing in law as "collusion". I guess that means some kind of obstruction charge?

"Collusion" was the first word someone in the media groped for when the topic first came up. It then just took off-- as needed words often do in high pressure, high stakes situations when you just need a god damned word to talk about something-- even though it wasn't carefully thought out.
ReplyDeletelawfareblog.com - Where the Heck Did the Term 'Collusion' Come From?
Then it was cynically turned into a fake anti-legal term by conservatives. "Collusion isn't a thing! Therefore there is no crime!"
Election fraud, however, is a federal crime, as is conspiracy to commit election fraud. One of the ways to commit election fraud is to accept or solicit a thing of value from a foreign party, which campaign dirt very certainly is.
You know what else is a crime? Obstructing a lawful investigation for corrupt purposes, even if there was no crime at the bottom of the investigation.
And you know who agrees that obstruction of justice is an impeachable offense? Every single Republican Senator who meets all of the following criteria:
1) Was a Senator during Clinton's impeachment
2) Is still a Senator
3) Whose name is not Susan Collins
No bet.
ReplyDeleteI bet you a dollar per hypocrite that if CNN or WaPo or NYT actually ask any of them why, that they won't get an answer.
