Depends! I'm sure the uber-wealthy will find a way to continue to extract wealth from us all and do just fine. Worst case, if the consequences of their actions get too out of control, they flee to Monaco or New Zealand or Switzerland with their money, and leave the rest of us lesser folks to reap the whirlwind they sowed.
ReplyDeleteBut the institutions become irrelevant, even if they nominally still exist. And cycles of violent revolution become a thing. And yes, the people who suffer are mostly not the rich, but not everyone in the Congress and running the GOP will be kept in that circle. They get bumped off and lose their status, too. Maybe they hope they will be the Quandts (actual Nazi lineage, currently own BMW) or the Kochs (who also have Nazi ties).
ReplyDeleteAs you point out, there's always going to be the Quandts and the Kochs and their like, the men with the ambitions to pillage on national scales and the will / amorality to not worry about the consequences. Remember the reaver motto: We Do Not Sow.
