This is so autistic. When doctors say the fat is converted to energy, they mean it is burned, and its chemical energy converted to other forms of energy. There is no way you get decent grades in high school without understanding this. And you are not going to become a physician (probably not even a registered nurse) in a civilized nation until you can ride the Krebs cycle without falling off.
ReplyDelete... autistic?
ReplyDeleteKenneth Cavness Yeah, as in failing to communicate. Like when someone says the sun is going to set soon and you go "ACTUALLY, it is the Earth that rotates" even though nobody asked you whether it is actually the Earth that rotates.
ReplyDeleteI have not heard this used in this way before.
ReplyDeleteMagnus Itland yeah, I had a bit of a quibble about that, as well. But the overall point, that it isn't some simple equation about "calories" was worth not destroying the whole article over it. Also, though, she may have been being extremely specific in that the ATP and so on are the energy side, and CO2 and H2O are not actually included in that. Like talking about energy isn't wrong, it just doesn't go far enough.
