This is garbage.
This is garbage. Either you have a right to vote as a citizen, or you don't. And demanding that you have a street address where you get snail mail is a not so unclear line back to having to be a white male property owner.
People have shown over and over again that people don't vote in the wrong district, and don't vote multiple times. There are extremely rare problems with votes cast, and even rarer cases of anything like fraud. This is always a scare tactic and a witch hunt and a move to disenfranchise people.

Watching Marsha Coyle on PBS late...using auto voter registration with driver's license/state ID seems like it would work. And to capture those who don't use ID, then state assistance records/tax records. But this oh, send a card? Craptastic.
ReplyDeleteMI must do something like the above because both my license renewal and my Healthy Michigan redetermination asked me about voter registration.
I guess voting is not tied to social security number in American states, like it is in European states? Since people can vote in several places or after their death.
ReplyDeleteMagnus Itland , that is correct. Tying voting to SSN comes too close to a national ID for some people. Plus, the SSA declares alive people as dead on a regular basis anyway.
