I always felt that I was pursuing shared feelings, even though I now realize I was mistaken.
Next time someone complains about our newly found insistence on clear and stated consent, point this out. I will just bet you anything that that is a true statement for him. Because this society keeps telling men they are entitled to a woman's interest in them. So they either become absolutely sure everyone wants them, or they turn into toxic haters. Nice options you give people, society. (Yes, I know there are men out there who somehow got a better message, or figure out on their own how not to be an asshole, but you folks are either a very quiet majority or a statistical minority.)
But his wrath was swift and often fiercely personal, according to interviews with multiple former employees.
Oh, man, does this sound like an ever lengthening list of men (and a few women) who I have worked for/with. Often senior or successful, always in a position of relative power. This is another one of those bullshit behaviors that society keeps tolerating and telling people is masculine.
Sure, people may complain privately, but mostly they just accept it. If a complaint is made, the complaint maker is the one with the problem, or it's quietly hand slapped but the person continues their career and life uninterrupted by any substantive correction, or the person complaining is patted on the head and nothing is said to or about the abusive behavior and the person continues their career and life uninterrupted. No reason to stop having outbursts and being an abusive asshole.
Stop tolerating and encouraging bullshit, people, or this will continue forever.
