Item A
Dad was supposed to start more chemo, but they looked more at the biopsies and talked and decided surgery was a preferred option, partly because he's in constant pain, again. So, he's having some major surgery on his face that will require reconstruction and grafts and stuff. It will be Nov 15.
To say that he was looking forward to it would be a gross misstatement and outright falsehood. Also, one of the reasons the surgery became preferred is because this is the first of 3 head and neck surgeries he will have to have. The chemo would have had to be ridiculously extensive, and caused debilitation and side effects and other damage, and would have had to be continued/repeated for however long he lives, basically. So they are hoping they can stage the surgeries and potentially remove everything without, at least, making him even more ill.
Fucking leukemia/lymphoma (he has both).
Item B
When that storm hit the east coast, it did get this far west, at least in terms of volume of rain. It burned out the sump pump. Fortunately, the plumbing company replaced it within 30 minutes or an hour or something. They're, like, miraculous. Apparently, they spent several days constantly out on calls, replacing sump pumps, and such-like stuff. Overall good news as flooding was averted, but very expensive bill, obs.
Item C
Mom's car got bottomed out in a parking lot last week or so. It got fixed right away and there wasn't major damage, but it's still a bill. At the time, they didn't see anything else wrong. Well, now something's wrong with the brakes. Specifically, the emergency brake and the rear brakes and things sticking and getting burned out and it's going back to the shop on Monday. Moar bills.
Item D
Mom had an MRI last week for reasons and it confirmed that she has significant deterioration in her spine. It also found something in her kidney or kidneys. I don't know. No one knows, because she briefly said basically about what I just said to my dad when she got back and has nothing further to say to anyone. My best guess based on inference is it's probably just a cyst and an incidentaloma and no big deal. She's not talking, so who knows. Well, except to make sure we know that she's in pain and we have to understand blah blah stop using that as an excuse for treating other people badly blah blah miserycakes. #compassionfatigue
I've been back here less than 24 hours. -_-
