Gold mining is freaking toxic. If somebody can find science on somebody running a clean gold mine, I'd love to read about it.
Hope you enjoy telling your grandchildren about eating sockeye salmon. And how there used to be grizzly bears, and eagles, and probably some orca. Otters eat 'em, so do osprey and other birds, sharks and other fish, seals and sea lions.
I mean, nobody cares about local indigenous populations, or crazy white people who've gone native, so, whatever. Tourists can go elsewhere. There's tons of sustainable fisheries, the fishermen can just move.
