Oh, man.

Oh, man. I went out and came back before 8:30 am. It's already getting crazy. People are camped out all over already, including the big open grass area near the hospital and in the mall parking lots. There's accidents already, and the major interstates coming into South Carolina are already parking lots. I hope all those people planning on sitting outside from 8 am until then have a LOT of water. Don't know where they're gonna find a bathroom, though.

I think I mostly made a wise move not to be anywhere in downtown, even though I'm sure there's great viewing parties and other stuff going on. The museums, the zoo, the universities, and state parks are all sold out and many are already at capacity.

The temperatures are over 80, now, and will be well over 90 by this afternoon and the time of the eclipse. The cicadas are loud. Interestingly, they are supposed to go quiet with totality. It'll be interesting to see hear.

  1. Strangely enough, there was almost no rush-hour traffic in Nashville this morning - public school is out today which may be the largest contributing factor to that. Ian's in school but with a modified class schedule as the school will convene at the football field for eclipse viewing.
