A Customs and Border Protection spokesman said in a statement that the agency’s Office of Professional Responsibility investigated the incident and “determined that no further action was warranted and the officers involved were not disciplined.”
No further action my aunt fanny. They knew what they were doing. What the hell did they expect? Oh, well, they didn't expect him to die. Really? Your enforcement officers who are supposed to be trained, among other things, to interdict drugs, don't know anything about drugs? And yet they knew enough to know that what the kid had were drugs? So they made him take them? On top of which, he did, which suggests to me that he didn't truly know what he was carrying. Pro tip: do not swallow concentrated liquid methamphetamine. (Also, not even sure what the heck it would have to be dissolved in, which could be toxic, as well.)
On top of which, they killed a suspect, who might have provided information that could have stopped other similar trafficking, or at least contributed to info gathering about the this kind of thing.
They weren't disciplined. Are you telling me that the kits they have for exactly this sort of thing are just some, oh, btw, if you feel like it or something expense? Not a procedural requirement while gathering evidence for a potential arrest and future trial? What if the kid was a hardened addict, drank it, and nothing happened? Now where's your evidence, smart guys?
Aliens aren't entitled to protections? Do you want that standard applied to US citizens abroad? In fact, nevermind. Fine. What about the fact that the officers in question are US citizens and surely they at the very least just committed something like manslaughter? Oh, well, since the kid really was carrying drugs, who cares? No interest in filing charges by US attorney.
What the hell kind of training do we give people for these jobs? And who the heck is running this show?
