I really don't even know what to say about this.

I really don't even know what to say about this. It's like they specifically developed their so-called "geek index" based on, hm, pre-existing biases about autism spectrum characteristics?

I'm particularly bothered by the more boys are geeks bias. Hm, let's see. What is a characteristic that society encourages in girls but not boys that would probably manifest by age 12? Verbal 'intelligence', maybe? What is a characteristic that also overlaps with autism spectrum. Hm. Being non-verbal, maybe? Geeks should definitely have higher non-verbal intelligence, let's put that in the score! P.S. Afaik, it's still believed (based on data, one hopes) that more boys than girls suffer autism spectrum disorders.

Also, since when do geeks not want to fit in? They may or may not be interested in fitting in with your peer group, but observational evidence would suggest that they form their own peer groups into which to fit. Have you never heard of Cons or Fandoms? Which are also not limited to geeks, but since we're pigeon-holing, here.

I mean, how on earth are they even defining 'geekiness'? Not to mention where's the entire paper validating this 'geek index'?
