Sounds legit.
Sounds legit. Good president, not so good candidate does not get you the job. However, it really ought to be a wake-up call that you can't just sit on your analytics and win. You have to be paying attention and do the work. If she has acolytes rather than professional political operatives with a sense of the street and the tools to use that info, well, maybe they ought to re-examine their thinking, too. She chose the wrong team and she listened to the wrong people and she made the wrong decisions as a candidate.

I've never been a big Hillary fan but I question that conclusion. She won the popular vote, she would have won the election if not for the Comey letter. The fundamentals were mildly favorable for Republicans. Trump was a weak candidate, but... I'm not sure how much blame Hillary really deserves (I lean toward "not much")
ReplyDeleteI do think she was a weak-ish candidate because she was already so intensely hated by so many (mostly unfairly) and I think that clearing the field for her was a huge mistake by the party elite. But I don't really fault her for the way she ran her campaign.
ReplyDeleteI am partly basing my comments on being involved in the campaign, as well as direct information from people much more deeply connected into the mechanics who had to (try to) deal with Brooklyn, i.e. her HQ people.
ReplyDeleteAnd while Comey may have been the last straw, he was hardly the whole reason she lost.
Beyond that, though, either she was the final decision maker in her campaign or she was not. If she was, she made the wrong calls. If not, that still makes me question her choice of surrogate to whom she delegated. Because then they made the wrong calls.
It's not so much about blame, it's about responsibility. It's one of the fun perks of being in charge.
