As if the Freedom Caucus cares. Truly. Their only true value has been that of refusing to compromise. They have been very consistent in refusing to work with anyone or compromise anything. Those are both signs of weakness and failure and equated with being a traitor.
The replacement of Eric Kantor with David Brat is a prime example of who they are, what they do, and their strongly held values of obstruction and confrontation. It's also a good example of how they sell that to the public. Plus, the more divided the Republican party is, the stronger they are as a minority. They have power. Does anyone think they are really going to just walk away and give that up?
They've already shown that they will play brinkmanship, even to the detriment of the country and themselves. Does Trump (and presumably his personal coterie) think he can out-bully them? I'd really rather not see this country governed by people playing chicken. I do not see that going well for the rest of us.
