Nope, not "just".

Nope, not "just". Participatory democracy is critical if we don't want to lose our right to it. And it isn't "just" advocating, and it isn't "just" participatory democracy. Sure, lots of places have it, now, in various forms. But for us, it is a critical underpinning of what we are as a country.

The apathy that people like to pontificate about and then ignore is as much to blame for where we are as anything. It's a pain in the butt, but if you don't do something, even something minimal, even on an occasional regular basis, you are letting other people decide how this works and whether or not you get to have rights as a citizen.

So while this may not be innovative, that isn't the point. Get out there and do something.

"... all of the actual participation that they are advocating for is normal, and really just advocating for participatory democracy."

  1. I hate these and mute them on sight. Even setting aside whether they're real or whether they're endangering the jobs of regular ass people... Following/RTing these isn't meaningful political action on any level, but people get to feel like they're doing something? I don't get why people need the fiction of it being real park rangers anymore than I understand why there's a fake Will McAvoy from Newsroom tweeting about IRL politics to many thousands of people (there is also now a fake Toby Ziegler!).

The bird website is stupid in any number of ways but if you want that kind of content FOLLOW REAL ACTUAL ACTIVISTS WHO ARE ACTUALLY DOING REAL SHIT. AND THEN GIVE THEM MONEY AND STUFF.

My assumption is half these ~rogue~ accounts will get sold to brands and become ads in six months.
