Only linking this because every time I hear that someone 'voted for Trump but is now reconsidering' or the equivalent, I ricochet among speechless, incoherent, and wanting to slap something.

The quote in question: "Abdel Hammad, owner of neighboring Besta Pizza, said he has also received threats amid allegations his business is also involved in child trafficking, and he told NPR member station WAMU that even though he voted for Trump, he is now rethinking that decision."

The man hasn't even taken office and you are already reconsidering. Why? Because you didn't take him literally? Because you thought all the violence and horror and bullying that surrounded him and was inherent in his own behavior and that of some of his staff were just part of the campaign? What are you suddenly seeing now that you were incapable of seeing before? Because I have to tell you, this was all there. It was right there, on the TV, on the internet, at the rallies and on the streets. What, precisely, did you miss that is suddenly giving you buyer's remorse?

And what part of our electoral system did you not understand where there are no takeses backses? You voted for him, and you got him. You don't get to change your mind, now. I mean, you do, although it makes me want to smack you upside the head. And if you do, will you do something about it? Will you spend the next four years pressing your congress critters not to destroy the things you suddenly feel might be under threat? The real ones, I mean, like your livelihood, or, you know, your life. Not the imaginary homosexual pedophile rings, etc.

Or will you just go back to the fake news, the empty but inspiring rallies, the bully tweets that destroy lives and pretend that you just voted for the economy, or family values, or whatever and that this other stuff is all just part of the price to get those things. Which you seem to have already noticed you might not be getting, and/or may come with a price tag you aren't really enthused about paying.

I totally get people a couple years into a term or administration being disenchanted with things not going as they felt they were promised, or what they voted for. There's some sort of concrete reality that relates to the I'm not happy with how this turned out. When people are suddenly all oh, wait before anything related to the governance part has even been able to happen, I seriously question what in the name of eru, odin, and some nameless fishes you were thinking when you voted?

If you believed the lies about the incitement to violence he's been spewing for well over a year, now, while I feel sorry for you, I feel worse for the rest of us who understood it and felt that was a reason not to vote for him or his coattails and who will be the collateral damage from the next vigilante. If you actually swallowed that garbage about him changing who he'd be, I hear they have some bridges in Brooklyn looking for investment. Also, Max Bialystock has a production on Broadway.
