You know, I know my dad is sick. I know he feels horrible. But I swear to god sometimes he says things on purpose to cause trouble. He says he just forgets and is overwhelmed and I can buy that for stuff like his phone answering obsession. (If he is in the house he is obsessive about answering the phone if it rings. Which if it was 30+ years ago without caller ID or answering machines would be understandable. However, I put this down to regression when ill behavior. Annoying, but whatever.)
However, both of my parents seem to have this inability to delegate something to me to deal with and then just freaking let me deal with it. I'm not not gonna tell you what info I gather, I'm not gonna not tell you what's going on, I'm not gonna make decisions for you instead of giving you info and letting you make a decision.
Meanwhile, if one of them asks me to take care of something, the other one has to constantly butt in like a two year old - whatcha doin'? how come? why? And then there's the "reporting in on activities in the house, news at 11!" Like, really? You think you have info, or you have partial info, so you have to go run and tell someone as if you fully know what's up? Do you think I'm not going to talk to them? Does it make you feel better to go tell stories like you were a part of it even though you don't know the whole story and are now creating problems with the version of the story you're telling?
And don't get me started on how my dad is acting like a two year old about dealing with the latest disaster in his health. I threatened him with a cone of shame because he wouldn't frakking leave something alone. He's making it worse, and he's fussing at it, and his response is leave me alone I hate feeling like this. Which would be fine if he wasn't also potentially causing medical problems for the rest of us, as well as making things worse for himself which also causes problems for the rest of us.
AUGH!!!
