I might have shared about this place before? It serves Venezuelan street food. On the left is a Venezuelan empanada. Delicious. With this ubiquitous green sauce that is tangy and mayonnaisey and I don't know what it is but it is addictive.
The other dish is patacon. It is a sandwich with discs of fried, smooshed, green (unripe) plantain instead of bread. OMG. It is juicy, drippy, meaty insanity with some veggies and sauce on it. It's super messy and probably way more calories than bread. Who cares?
Also, I don't think they do small portions of anything in this place. It's kind of too much, really, but it's super tasty and delicious. I have to see if I posted way back when about the arepas. Because the arepas. Seriously.

Mmmm... Venezuelan food.
ReplyDeleteThere's a Venezualan+ place near work (Arepazo), and it is great. They have a green sauce they call "cilantro sauce" that looks a lot like that.
ReplyDeleteTheir arepas and empanadas are extremely good, as expected, but they have a dish called "patacon" that is just absurdly good. Fried sweet plaintains on the bottom, topped with the meat of your choice, topped with lettuce and peppers and probably other vegetables, then a bunch of avocado slices. There's some kind of light sauce in there, and then you get some hot or mild cilantro sauce to apply as you see fit on the side. It's actually even better than it sounds.
Mike Bruce quite a coincidence you bring up the Patacon!
