The bit before discussing Chicago was bad enough. I thought it was Kafkaesque to hear a former Reagan staffer pull the guns don't kill people people kill people bit about the protesters in Chicago, like somehow Trump isn't absolutely responsible for the environment he creates, like the Republican party hasn't let their teenagers get out of control even though they saw them burning kittens when they were children. But that was nothing.

Trump is calling the protesters "Bernie's", saying that all the protesters at any of his events are there because the Bernie Sanders' campaign is deliberately organizing the protests. There was a protester with a What Would Jesus Do sign and while he's saying "Get 'em out!" and pointing, he's also calling them "a Bernie person". Later on, he talks about how he's going to defend christians, and make it safe to say merry christmas, again. And the audience is cheering him on.

Speaking of which, does he know that that is another riff on Nazism? "Raus!" is short for heraus. It means get out. He also referred to Bernie Sanders as that "commie" who's running. Are we sure he isn't deliberately quoting from translations of Hitler's speeches or Nazi propaganda?

He says protesters should be jailed. He's says he's going to press charges against protestors. For what? Exercising their first amendment rights?

The Republicans had better not back this guy.

  1. Remember, none of the GOP candidates are on record as refusing to back Trump if he wins the nomination. None. [1]

Trump is the inevitable extension of everything that began with Nixon's Southern Strategy. It's all been waiting for a candidate with the audacity to finally "go there" instead of simply dog-whistling to it. This has been a long time coming.

  2. Well, they are starting to hem and haw about it. You really have to be bad for me to want you to back Ted Cruz, and I'm at that place where I feel like the Republicans should just go with it, already, because a violence inciting megalomaniacal narcissist is not what anybody needs as a leader.
