ReplyDeletewould
ReplyDeleteAlso, it looks like the baby didn't make it into the cake. That has to be some sort of bad luck.
ReplyDeleteNow, correct me if I'm wrong, but "King Cake" is just a sweet bread, right?
Well, I gather from this and other info sources that it can be a pastry-like thing, as in the French one, or it can be a bread-like thing, as in most of the others. I think of Kringles as pastry, and there are kringle-like ones, as well. I don't remember them being filled a while back, but that seems to be the most common form, now, in the US? The last time I bought one, they seem to sell them with the baby separate, so nobody forgets it is there and chokes on it. You have to remember to stuff it in before you serve it. Maybe the plastic would give off toxic fumes, or something, if you baked it?
ReplyDeleteThey actually sell bakeable babies online somewhere. I was reading about it...online.
ReplyDeleteThis looks bready to me which kind makes me 'meh' about it but I'd try it because cake.
i found a king cake baby in my pocket when in NOLA. I did not have, nor did anyone in my presence I'm aware of, have king cake
